Problem is monied people who lobby our legislators to make laws in their interests regardless of the interests of their electors. Effects thereof: Laws that enrich legislators and their lobbyists and screw their electors/tax payers. Desired solution for this effect: Stop this!!! Solution: many solutions, that include laws passed by those in House and Senate to banish in-house trading, term limits, required tax returns of our legislators on a quarterly basis, just like they require of others….IRS reforms …tooo many to name here….Results: Following thru’ on any of the above would return us to the Founder’s intents for governance, against this obscene and ongoing stalemate that George Washington warned against with a “party system.”
There is one fundamental principle that, if consistently applied, would solve lobby corruption, which only feeds the beast with more power and corruption. There needs to be a complete separation of state and economy, for the same reason there is, and should be, a separation of church and state. Once you take the government out of the economy to pick winners and losers, it will focus on its original purpose as a protector (of individual rights) rather than a provider (of goods and services). It will necessarily shrink the size and cost of government. A pure laissez-faire economy will allow market principles to continually make minor corrections rather than plugging the proverbial dam until it bursts, creating major recessions and ultimately a depression. History has borne that out. Without the abuse of regulatory power, the country will efficiently meet and supply the needs of the populace and promote further growth. A country is as prosperous as it is free.
