Nothing could possess me to live in NYC and it’s not just the exorbitant cost of living; it’s also crime, weather extremes, rat infestation, dilapidated infrastructure, crowds and terrorism. Obviously $500 isn’t enough — it’s just a pitiful “drop in the bucket”. It should be $5,000/year for electricity and/or rent assistance. Why should people earning less than $50,000/year live there? It’s unaffordable for most people. The newcomers and immigrants should stop flocking to NYC since they’d only be setting themselves up for failure. It’s counter-intuitive to live in an expensive, rat-infested, dangerous city like NYC. New York state has no choice but to introduce nuclear energy because all other forms of energy and pragmatic and can’t possibly meet the needs of an expensive, overly populated city and state. NYC’s hands are tied and the mayor and governor must recognize this and act accordingly immediately.
