It is not Barbaric. In every state the law is similar. If you fear severe bodily injury or death you may use deadly force to protect yourself or others. Many police and Federal officers have been severely injured. If they are shot dead they wont be coming back again to riot and do damage to facilities, private property or injuries anyone after the get some liberal judge to give them a slap on the hand and let them go.
