RIP Charlie Kirk, you’re in a better place
I was a NYC cop on the street, retired now, 71 now. Crime was very high in black neighborhoods I worked. In the evenings when regular people were able to sit outside they thanked me for being there and to be able to sit outside. Otherwise fearful of coming out. Got to know many of the people, I am white, they trusted me, provided information, and looked out for me as well.
